I won't have to worry about that for a while. My friend the new DA will probably have me removed from the list if drawn. I have some "radical and extreme" views.

Not that I wouldn't serve on a jury if drawn.  That little question about my opinion regarding capital punishment has removed me twice before.

I haven't been called back for jury duty since the time a few years ago I was working on my noose tying skills waiting in the jury selection room.  Must have been the noise of snapping the noose shut to test it.

1.  Of course they must be guilty.  Cops don't arrest innocent people.

2.  If they aren't guilty, why are they in court?

3.  What time is cocktail hour for this jury?

4.  Even jay-walking should be a capital crime.

5.  When we find the defendant guilty, can we send his attorney to prison, too?

6.  The voices in my head have already told me how this turns out.

7.  I think I may have slept with the judge's mom.  Would that be a bad thing?

Any of these should get you excused.  A couple might get you committed.  Use whatever you think might help.

RAbbit judges don't put up with that crap.  Just go do it and hope for the best.   did you move or register to vote recently?   often that will put you back to the head of the list.

Couple of guys I work with mentioned to me in separate conversations that the each have been called for jury duty every year for some time.  I have been voting for 45 years and have not been called once.  I thought it was odd, but didn't follow up in any way.

Some time after that one of the guys was taking about elections and he was proud he was a precinct worker at his local polling place.  He was also proud that he was the first person to vote at his location every year.

Well, that rang a bell about the other guy..I thought he had mentioned being a poll worker, so I asked him if he was and asked if he voted first each year...which he did.

I called the board of elections and asked them how they come up with the list of potential jurors.

They said that, for instance, if they will need 1 out of 25 of all the voters, the get the sign in sheets for each poling place and mark the 1st person on the list, then the 26th person..and so on.  So if you vote 1st you are on the list every time.

I have no problem serving my civil responsibility!  Other than voting, we're obligated to serve, might as well make the best of it...

Here in Frederick County, MD, District Court jury rolls come from registered voter lists. I've been tapped 3 times in 30 years for the duty. They don't tap after age 70, but I think the limit is 3 times, so either way I'm done. Now my wife has never been called for jury duty! Go figure. The last trial I was considered a potential juror, I was dismissed in the pre-trial interviews by the defense attorney once he found out where I worked for 44 years. Didn't have to lie and never intended to in the first place. I just considered it my civic responsibility to serve if asked.
