Been years since I have served on a jury or been summoned for Superior or Circuit Court in my local area.
Last time I served on a jury was Federal Court and had to travel for that. Got called for Federal again shortly after but was released because I was still in a hospital bed.
Have not been called since.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

For the Patriots of this country, the Constitution is second only to the Bible for most. For those who love this country, but do not share my personal beliefs, it is their Bible. To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

Last year was the second time I had to report for jury duty but I didn't get picked either time. The first day I sat there reading a book for half a day and went home. I called the courthouse in the evening and got a recording saying not to show up for the second day. I claimed my $13 jury pay on my taxes so I had to file a long form and it cost me more to have my taxes done. I think it would have been cheaper if I wasn't paid anything.
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington. Just a nit to pick.
"Civic duty" is serving on a jury.
"Civil responsibility" is not electing azzholes just because they promise you "free stuff" .

Every time I've made it to the box, I've  just said;  The law must be applied rationally, dispassionately,  and logically, to the facts as they are presented.  I'm usually dismissed by the defense.
“It will be of little avail to the people that the laws are made by men of their own choice if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood.”

I've been called 4 times. First was when I was in school in Tx. and still registered here in Fl., so that was an out (as they wouldn't pay airfare). The second I had a serious stomach flue (as in no more than four feet from the crapper and the courthouse was suffereing as well), so another out. The third, I was put on "phone reserve" where I had to call in twice a day to see if I needed to report and apparently not, as I was excused. The fourth was a few days after my old man's heart attack and I was his caregiver, a no BS note from his doc and I was out. I've never lied to get out of it. Frankly it could be interesting, but I'm not sure many lawyers want a libertarian on the Jury.

last time I went I was put in the jury box right away. I am proud to say that I was the second one tossed right after the Lawyer. I think the defense lawyer read the look in my eye...
