The kicking of the hornets nest continues..Seeing how that "little" 10th Amendment thingy gets in the way of FED vs. State's, good luck with that.

Hundreds of sheriffs across the country have banded together and vowed not to enforce any new state or federal gun control legislation because they feel such laws would be in violation of the U.S. Constitution — the document they took an oath to uphold.

Now, at least one lawmaker in Texas, state Rep. Yvonne Davis (D-Dallas), is proposing legislation that would remove any sheriff or law enforcement officer who refuses to enforce state or federal law. Keep in mind, sheriffs are elected by the people, not appointed by bureaucrats. In other words, the proposed bill would remove elected officials from office unless they enforce laws they feel violate the Constitution.

If found “guilty,” a court shall remove the person from office and disqualify them from public office for a period of 10 years.

Does Rep. Yvonne Davis know about the legalities of a recall?  She should brush up on it...

You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

Sheriffs still have to fallow the law.  It would not be as easy as falling off a log, but it would not be that hard either.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.

These would be the same sheriffs following the same laws who are prevented by the Feds - and liberal Dems - from enforcing the Federal immigration law, as it is allegedly not their job?

Nice to know you're leaving kommifornia. Only trouble is, you're taking your poisoned view to another state to infect them.

Oh, by the way, police and military are not required, in fact are obligated to refuse, to obey illegal orders. Remember? We hung people after WW2 for using the excuse "I was following orders" when those orders were illegal or violated moral law.

They swear to uphold the Constitution, and the laws of the State they are Sheriff's in. If a Fed law is unconstitutional, or even if a state law is a violation of the Constitution, at the Sheriff's discretion, as the highest ranking LE Officer in that jurisdiction, the Sheriff can and is obligated to tell them to pound sand!!!

Review the post here regarding the cutting down of trees on Federal land out west to fight a wildfire. The Feds threatened action against anyone cutting down trees on Fed Land, regardless of why.

The Sheriff and the House Representative from Congress showed up with a tree cutting crew and local firefighters, the FED showed up and the Sheriff threatened to arrest them for interfering with a local matter.

The Feds left.

A perfect example of exactly the opposite of that is the feds and pot in the sf bay area.  Not only did the feds raid them, the local leo tried to stop them and was told move it or lose it.   the leos moved it.

The fact that a Bay area sheriff did not enforce the Constitution doesn't prove anything beyond the fact that Bay area sheriffs are liberal sheep just like Bay area voters.

Here is not just a county Sheriff Standing Tall, this is the whole State.  And they say it will not be a half hearted stand.

As sheriffs across the nation signal opposition to enforcing additional federal gun regulations, the Utah Sheriffs' Association sent a letter to President Obama assuring him that its members similarly will not comply.

The letters insists that the rights of Utah citizens trump any new gun control measure that Congress might pass, and sheriffs in Utah are prepared to trade their lives in defense of their constituents' right to keep and bear arms.
