is that the list of Senators that will be looking for a new job come the next election ??
From your mouth to God's ear Phil. I would rather have an in your face liberal than these clowns, as long as everyone knew it was the anti-gun vote that cost them their seat. Hell, even the liberal would get the message.

If I understand correctly, S.649 essentially has three components.  First, of course, is the UBC.  Second is the increased penalties for trafficking.  And the third component is increased grant funding for school security.  As debate ensues over contentious aspects of the UBC and the prospects for the survivability of the entire bill plummet, I think we may see that component removed so that the rest of the bill can pass.

BTW, I want to publicly thank Senator Cornyn and Senator Cruz for standing tall and voting against this assault on our liberties.

The background checks we have now are already a half a**ed registry. Why do they need the serial number if they are not keeping records. This will be a complete registry if it passes.

FQ,

Are you sure you'd rather have an in-your-face liberal? If so, try Maryland for a change! We got lots of them here, but gun supply seems to be getting thin.

While I'm not saying any of them don't deserve to be voted out, lets look at it from a different angle.  Voting to allow the bill to be voted ON is not even close to actually voting FOR the bill.  By forcing the vote sooner, there is less chance for amendments that are worse than the language already in the bill (AWB anyone?). Plus there is waning support for it anyway.  Any delays and the Brady Bunch et al have more time to sit on the desk of fence sitters.  While SAF and NRA would have the same opportunity, the momentum is currently on our side, plus it gets POTUS out of the loop too.  He can't campaign fast enough to get the pendulum to swing the other way in time.

And if nine of these yahoos had voted no this bill would be dead. I want no more lectures about voting GOP. If this is what you get, what's the point. I'm back to voting L. I'd rather "throw my vote away" than give it to a judas. Though if enough of us start doing this, it won't be thrown away will it?

WAIT a minute!  While 16 of the Repubicans voted for the bill ALL of the Democrats voted for it!

The Democrats are the Party of Gun Control as a matter of policy.  The Republican party is not without its wimps that want to cater to the Beltway Press so that they get invited to all the cool parties but they are on their way out.  And the leadership is NOT following the wishes of the vast majority of its members, what is needed is to oust the "Ruling Class" and elect more conservative representatives rather than take the easy way out.

With some of these people you might as well be talking to the wall .
They can not comprehend that if you vote "R" you might wind up with a good guy like Cruz, or you might wind up with a RINO like McCain.
But if you vote a "D" you are voting for a Party platform that specifies that it hates your guns.
As for voting "L", these chumps have been doing that for years and the only State that has elected a 3rd party candidate is Vermont, and they vote with the Dems.
