Quote
A big victory for Georgia gun owners -- after weeks of uncertainty, Gov. Sonny Perdue finally signed off on a controversial measure allowing certain people to carry their guns in restaurants that serve alcohol, and on public transportation like MARTA.

While the bill's sponsor Tim Beardon says the new law gives back some of the Second Amendment, many believe it's going to end up in court -- especially the provision that allows qualified owners to lock their guns in the cars at work.

It does'nt affect me much here in ks too much but I would like them to take those stupid "no gun" signs off of our busses. I dont know if a bar is the right idea though because an individual is voluntarily putting his/herself in that situation, however many actual restaraunts should allow it even if they serve alcohol. I never studied as much as I have since I have recieved my CCH. :)

Here in NC, any establishment of any kind can put up a "No Gun" sign. They also have a stipulations for no CCW allowed at funerals, parades, or any place that serves alcohol.

You can legally have a holstered firearm, on the hip, and drink a beer where permitted, according to the law, but LEO would probably get you on Drunk and Disorderly, or Public Nuisance, or Disturbing the peace. Something.

North Carolina in the "infinite wisdom" of our legislature, and letting the local Sheriff's office "modify" the laws county to county.
We have many, many, many GRAY areas. Several contradict. Ex. One county says you can have your pistol in you car in plain view in a non threatening manner; legally.

Another county says if an officer is in his squad car and your in your car, he can't see the 1911 .45 on the seat and therefore its concealed, and if you dont have a CCW permit you are breaking the law.

And the holstered in plain view also has the "brandishing to the terror of the public" ordinance. which you can legally holster BUT might also be "brandishing"

Good Luck in GA. Maybe some common sense will rub our way.

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Congrats to Georgia! I hope the provision about allowing employees to keep their guns in their car doesn't run into problems in the courts. We need something like that here in Texas...

And NH, our Legislature passed it last year but the dumbacrat Gov veto'd it. Going to get rid of him, one way or another.
