Remington R-25
« on: May 16, 2008, 03:31:02 PM »
Remington has a new AR style rifle designed for big game hunters. It is a pretty interesting concept, and includes some interesting calibers for AR style rifles (7mm-08).

Available in: .308, .243, 7mm-08

MSRP $1532

Sweeeet!
I could do without the forward assist but they probably figured if it was there on one rifle it needed to be there on the next one.

In 7-08?  I just may have to check one of these out!!

My deer rifle is in 7-08, but I wouldn't want to shoot a lot through one as 7-08 is EXPENSIVE!  On the other hand, if you're paying $1500 for a deer rifle, and are planning on using this as a deer rifle, you wouldn't be going through much ammo, as compared to a regular AR15.
Still, I wonder what makes this different from any other 308 AR, other than being available in 7-08?

As always military fire arms are being adapted to "sporting purposes". Lever, and Bolt actions were BOTH first developed for MILITARY use then "Sporterized" . This has already begun with the use of the AR 15 for small game, it continues with the adaptation of the AR 10 for deer and larger game.
I predict that about 25 years after the Army adopts laser Rifles some guy will devolpe a load for it that will take game at ridiculus ranges  ;D

I love my AR for tactical and target shooting but I'll stick with my trusty model 700 for the deer woods, it has worked for my brother Marine snipers for 30 or so years now with outstanding results.

You're not buying factory ammo are you?   Get thee to the loading bench!!

I don't see any difference except for the caliber myself. I would like a little more barrel length for better ballistics.
Do I need another deer rifle? (Mine is a 700 too)
Need never had anything to do with it.  ;D
Hmm...maybe a 243 for longer range coyote work? Sounds like one gun with extra uppers is in order!
