SR9 Confession

Can't hold it in any longer.
Yesterday wifey and I went to the range and I took the SR9. I SWORE to myself I wouldn't fire it 'till it's been reworked, but I just couldn't stand it any more. We were the only ones out there on dirt and grass so if I dropped it it wouldn't be a big deal. Had the safety on all the time too except for shooting.
Fired about 100 rounds through it and confirmed the fact that I REALLY like the gun.
So forgive me, Swami, for sinning with the recalled gun. All you DRTVer's at the NRA meeting....if you see someone from Ruger please tell them to PLEASE get off their ass and set this right. It's too good of a gun to be sitting on the shelf.

yeh it is a nice gun, fun to shoot, carry, and comfortable, to bad its recalled, but once they come back from the shop we should all have something to play around with

Apparently Ruger is going to give SR9 owners a free mag for all of the trouble..... For those of you that are having problems with the LCP, you might want to tell them that you want a free LCP mag for the troubles that you are having with that gun (I bet they would be happy to send you one).

Sure feels good, eh?  Thin like a 1911.  I'm wondering if they are going to improve the trigger on this recall.  It seems to be more accurate than my M&P 45 but the M&P beats it in the trigger class right now.  If they do improve the trigger, I'm buying another with hopes of a 3rd in 45 later on.  I don't know how sensitive the SR9 is to being drop fired, but I plan to use it this week.

I'm headed to USSA for a two day intro/tac pistol course Wednesday & Thursday as a "teambuilding exercise" paid for by the company.  Oh wait...that really doesn't have anything to do with the SR9 other than I'm bringing it..I'm really not gloating at all......

Be careful of taking the SR9...some folks might take offense at your use of a "recalled" weapon.

i actualy had to drop out of a tactical shoot due to the fact that the gun was recalled, i got rembursed though so it wasnt to bad...

NO problems...worked great.  Other than the gritty trigger sucks.  Sure would be nice to have a smooth, short travel in the 4-5 pound range...that would get them another sale.

i dont know what everyone is talking about, my trigger pull is extreamly smooth strait out of the factory.  its a better trigger than my duty pistol(glock) or any of my other handguns

You are most fortunate.  I got around to checking my trigger pull this morning.  Used an average 10 snaps on a Lyman Digital trigger gauge.  With approx. 250-350 rounds between cleaning (1,250-1,500 total) my trigger pull averaged 9 pounds 9 ounces.  After cleaning and oiling it averaged 7pounds 11 ounces...still too much and still a gritty nasty pull.  In fact...I tested several guns this morning...maybe I should post the results....

My SR9 trigger is relatively heavy, but it's never been gritty.  Clean break.  Really clean and positive reset. 

It's improved some with use.  My concern is that this new trigger assembly is going to really monkey with the works.  Also, I heard Ghost was coming out with a connector for the SR9, a la their Glock trigger products.  That's gotta be completely up in the air, now that Ruger is changing the assembly.
