PHOENIX (CBS5) -
A Phoenix police officer and a city firefighter died within six hours of each other from injuries suffered in two separate incidents, city officials said in a news briefing Sunday morning.
Bradley Harper, 23, a two-year veteran of the Phoenix Fire Department, died after being crushed between two fire vehicles at a mulch fire Saturday near Lower Buckeye and 35th Avenue, said Phoenix Fire Chief Bob Khan.
Daryl Raetz, 29, a six-year veteran of the Phoenix Police Department, died from injuries suffered in a hit-and-run crash early Sunday morning, said Phoenix police Chief Daniel Garcia.

Sad for their families but relatively pleasant that they were simply "industrial accidents" rather than more fodder for the anti's.

The fireman sounds like nearly every peace time fatality in the Army when I was in.. Seems like two or three guys a year got run over by a tank or something like that..
Sorry for his family...

MY thoughts and prayers go out to the families. Just goes to show that first responders risk their lives each day for us An interesting note, vehicle crashes are now responsible for nearly half of peace officer deaths.

This is why I wish Phoenix DPS would do away with motorcycle cops. It's dangerous enough to be out there in a full sized cruiser. It's absolute suicide to do it on a bike. We've had many killed on them. If any of you could witness how they drive out here, you would understand my position much better.
