What's the best semi auto riot gun ?

In pumps I am a Mossberg 500 fan, but I don't know anything about semi auto's .
In the future I'm considering 18.5 inch barrel and telescoping stock (M 4/ AR style ).
What would be the best semi 12 ga. to put that on ?
Why ?
Please, no "Brand X sucks".
If that's what you think post why or I learn nothing of use.

I have a Remington 1100 that I really like but you can't put a collapsible stock on it. I hacksawed the barrel down from 28" to 18" and drilled the gas ports out one letter drill size larger because it wouldn't function with light loads in the winter. Now it handles any 2-3/4" shells that I want it to.

Heard a lot of good things about the Remington Versamax but would probably go with the 1100/1187.

if money is no object then benelli M-2 tactical(I think that's the correct model) will run with the best of them,Chosen by USMC for their combat shotgun.I think they have an adjustable stock for it.if not try to find one of their M-1 super 90's

I think the biggest question is what do you intend to do other than "riot". If that's the only purpose then save the cash and go Mossberg. If you intend to customize that is the practical choice.

If you want to spend a little more for built in capability then Remington has options. Benelli is awesome but in today's price spiked age is just a brand.

I'm a game player... shot an 1100 or 1187 for about 25years... off the top of my head
6 bolt carrier link failures
2 extractors
1 gas ring
1 fore end clip
1 shell interceptor
multiple shell lift pins

I now shoot a Benelli M1 Super 90... and my life doesn't depend on it...

+1 on the M1. I have one that is as near a perfect shotgun as I've ever encountered.
They don't make em anymore.. If you can find a used one, it'll run under a Grand.
My "list" is
Benelli M2, "3 Gun",
(Or for the box fed variety),
VEPR 12 over the Saiga because it will cycle the light loads that the Saiga won't.
