Mr. Brown, my 10th grade American History teacher returned one of my quiz papers to me with the comment   "We don't need any more of your smart alec answers."

Only two answers I remember are.

Describe the following:

Amendment Bil:   my answer    The way Bill Amendment's name appears on his permanent file.

Excise Tax:         my answer   When you want to stick something to the way, you use tax.  When you want to stick an excise to the wall, you use excise tax.


Mr. Brown had us all fill in a personal info card first day of class.  One of the fields was  "Comments".  I wrote,   "I don't want to scare you or anything, but my father said if I didn't pass the course, someone was going to get a real beating".

I guess he had no sense of humor.

At least not one that wasn't done with paste and words cut from magazines .

Some of my humor has rubbed off on all my kids.  My oldest daughter, now 17 then 16, raised her hand to answer the teacher's question, "what's the leading cause of death?" You guessed it and it was her answer, the correct answer BTW  ;), DEATH.  My son has yet to learn the proper time and place for such smart-a$$ responses and has earned his share, and mine, of detention.  I blame it on my parents, he moved in with them when he was 15 before I had finished his training-just think what another year with dad would have done for the boy, even if his sisters didn't live?  My focus now is on my stepdaughter, one of only two vocal conservatives in her class.  Gun control came up and I told her the only thing she needed to say "I'm all for compromise on gun-control.  We can repeal half of the gun laws now and the other half at a later date."  Sit down and watch the fireworks.   ;D
