I'm fighting back, but I'm getting old and tired,
« on: June 15, 2013, 05:20:58 AM »
[rant]

We had our granddaughter for most of last week.  She's 12.  Tall, skinny as a rail, big blue eyes.  We kinda sorta spoil her.  When the missus was taking her homewards the subject of guns came up.

According to the child, guns are bad.  People who have guns are bad, unless they are a policeman or military.  Guns kill people.  Nobody should have guns.  She learned all of this in school.  My son, who owns several firearms, doesn't want to talk about it.  DIL, aka Psycho Bitch from Hell, doesn't condemn firearms, but doesn't like them either.  Won't permit me to teach the g-kids to shoot.

When we tried to discuss this and other constitutional issues with the supposed adults, we get looked at like we have three heads.

The schools are indoctrinating our children/grandchildren.  Most parents, grandparents don't care.  I've fought the county library, the local schools, and government on constitutional education and indoctrination by collectivist organizations.  I'm getting to be too old for this and I don't see anyone following behind.

[/rant]

Thanks for the opportunity to vent.

 >:( Wow, she spent an entire week in a house of guns, and allegedly with two bad people and nothing happened to her.  It's a shame she can't see the hole in her logic.  Sorry and by all means that's worth ranting about.

If you are as old as I am (b. 1952) you grew up in a much different world, people today believe they live in near total safety except for the boogy men the Government creates . None of us need the ability to defend ourselves with deadly force much less find a hobby or practical use for weapons. The days of American freedom and liberty are numbered, liberalism is growing and they are quite happy with "Bread and Circus".

Just what it reminded me of..

Micah 7

1 Woe is me!
For I am like those who gather summer fruits,
Like those who glean vintage grapes;
There is no cluster to eat
Of the first-ripe fruit which my soul desires.
2 The faithful man has perished from the earth,
And there is no one upright among men.
They all lie in wait for blood;
Every man hunts his brother with a net.

3 That they may successfully do evil with both hands—
The prince asks for gifts,
The judge seeks a bribe,
And the great man utters his evil desire;
So they scheme together.
4 The best of them is like a brier;
The most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge;
The day of your watchman and your punishment comes;
Now shall be their perplexity.

5 Do not trust in a friend;
Do not put your confidence in a companion;
Guard the doors of your mouth
From her who lies in your bosom.
6 For son dishonors father,
Daughter rises against her mother,
Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law;
A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.
7 Therefore I will look to the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation;
My God will hear me.
With friends like these, who needs hallucinations!..

The daughter of one of our waitress' came in the other night .
16 y/o "vegan". She wouldn't eat the fries because they were cooked in the same basket the chicken had been cooked in.
Your diet is a survival mechanism , You eat the foods that work best in you particular circumstances .
Sitting hungry in a freaking restaurant would have me rethinking my criteria .
But "full disclosure" here, I was the "other kind" of 16 y/o.
If it was food I ate it, a lot of it .  ;D

I feel your pain FBG!  I was born in '57, grew up in S. Texas, and have been around firearms as long as I remember.

My father, who passed away a few years ago, liked to regal me with stories from his youth.  One of my favorites (paraphrased) is that when he was a young man, he and his buddy used to carry their .22 rifles with them to school (in Houston).  They would stack them in the corner of the classroom when they got there and retrieve them on their way out.  They would use them to hunt squirrels in the area that is now Hermann Park in Houston.  Nobody thought anything of it.  More to the point: neither he nor his classmates would have never dreamed of using those rifles in a way that would endanger anyone at school.

My how times have changed!

I was born in 1960, I have watched the change creep in from Mass and NY.
I have been "into" guns since my first TV Western , so I noticed the news about the GCA 1968.
Because it effected something I liked, I thought about what I heard and asked questions about things that did not make sense .
For example, "How do you cut crime by disarming the people most likely to be the victims of crime ?".
Dad looked at me funny, and I never have gotten a coherent answer .   ;D
My point is that I thought about what I heard and read , most people don't seem to do that any more, they just look at the image and hear the pretty noises .

Matthew 10:21-22 (KJV)

     And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

And so it goes.  George Orwell wasn't so wrong after all.  Wish I could get the kids to read Ayn Rand.

And gordy, I used to carry my Savage 24DL to school on my handle bars so I could hunt rabbits on the way home.  Never a second thought/look by the police or school officials.
