How long can fuel be stored before it spoils?

So, how many of you forward thinkers have 300 gallon gasoline tanks buried out by the barn or shed, with a replica Atlantic pump on the surface to keep your 4 door 4wd 250's running during the next gas crisis? Might as well. If many of us did that there would be a gasoline shortage for sure. Okay, we can blame it on the gasoline company gougers and the newbies who just got their new 250  and the government stupidos and everyone else but ourselves. Come to think of it, I have to upgrade my buried gasoline tank (currently 200 gallons) to 500 gallons so I can be better prepared than billt! Ever think that the way to engage the new gun owners is by letting them enjoy a few mags, some ammo and accessories so they become partners and activists on our side rather than discouraged and sit on the sidelines of what is going to be a big battle? Probably not. Let them get a horse!

What the heck are you talking about ?  ???

If you add something like "Stabil" (sp ? ) it will last quite a while.

I used to use that in my boat over the Winter, (2 cycle outboard). But I don't think you can put that into the low emission automobile engines without screwing up the catalytic converter???  ???

Use Seafoam.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

Sta-Bil says it won't harm anything.

Q: Is STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer safe for fuel injectors and catalytic converters?
A: STA-BIL® brand is safe to use in both fuel injected and carbureted engines, and will not damage catalytic converters or oxygen sensors. STA-BIL® Fuel Stabilizer prevents the formation of gums and varnish that can clog fuel injectors, and actually contains a fuel injector cleaner to further improve your engine’s performance.

Well if it was practical to store that much gas I am sure more people would consider that option given the wide fluctuations we have seen in gas prices recently.  But the problem with your analogy is that there are politicians in power that are doing whatever they can to make ammo and firearms extremely difficult, prohibitively expensive or downright impossible to purchase.  It's also becoming more obvious that the current regime has little respect for the Constitution so new firearm/ammo restrictions that circumvent the democratic process are a real possibility.  I hate the fact I bought a 9mm first the first time recently and have difficulty finding ammo for it a decent price but I have no problem with people stockpiling up several years supply of ammo.  That seems like a prudent thing to do in the current situation if you ask me.

Two trains of thought from personal exp.

While living in coastal NC, post Hurricane Bertha, some folks "thought" charging $10.00 for a 10lb bag of ICE was acceptable, because
folks had to have it to preserve their food, and we're willing to pay for it.

Afterwards, as in FL, anti-gouging laws were passed to curtail greedy scumbags taking advantage, BUT as Darth Rahm has stated:

"Never let a crises go to waste."

Ammo is not as important to the masses as food, so it is left alone and exempt from scrutiny. Recent gun show still had clowns selling ammo at ridiculous prices...

The good thing is, buyers are more savvy, resourceful, and called the greedy scumbags out. Folks were buying PMC .223 for almost a $1 a rd. in January, (post NewTown), now it's .30 to .60 ish cents a rd. depending on where you go.

The AR price gouge is over as some prices for AR's/AK's are coming back to what is the new reality.......

We all know the days of the $99 Norinco SKS in the crate are long gone, but thankfully, the days of the $1500 STOCK DPMS/OLYMPIC plain Jane AR are gone also....

The keyword to remember is:

FOR NOW....

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

Hello,
Just my two cents worth.
I have a reasonable amount of 22lr ammo on hand.
Most of it is stuff that I have had for years, when you could get a brick for $5.00. I last bought CCI tactical 375 box for $27.00.
I was at the local small gun store the other day, and they were selling CCI tactical bulk box 375 rounds for $114.00.
According to them, when I questioned them about the price, is the distributor is the problem.
NOT the manufr. Needless to say, I did not buy any.  Another customer box the box (1 per customer).
The real problem is last week some of my grandchildren, great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, my son, and I had
a great time at the range consuming 1200 rounds of 22 ammo. At that rate, I will have to limit group shooting 22.
As for all my CF ammo, I have reloaded for many years.  I talk to many people who are thinking about reloading, and unless
you have stocked up for years, you will find that most, if not all, components are difficult to find.
At this point in time, the information that I am getting is that it "should" ease up in about a year.  We will see.

As long as we tolerate the existence of anti rights, anti American subversives in this country any "easing" will only be temporary until the next attack on our freedom and our national culture.
The stupidity of "inclusiveness", "tolerance", and "diversity" assures continued undermining of everything America represents.

I feel we should have long memories, if a business charges outrageous prices now when the panic is over we should boycott them. The suppliers I have used are mostly out of stock but when they have inventory prices have a modest markup not scalper prices.
