Very Cool Toy
« on: June 19, 2013, 05:02:11 PM »
I saw this and started drooling. I have no idea why.  Its way out of my price range, I have no earthly use for it, and the last damn thing I want to do on this earth is to get into a tomahawk fight, even if I "win". ;D Still, when the zombies come, I'll go out in style. Its the Rattle Hawk from Swamp Rat Knife Works. Check this thing out. A curved blade so it doesn't stick, sharpened from the underside of the blade all the way across the top and a nice 3 inch fighting knife style spike in the back. It is just too bad ass not to want one. Luckily for me they're out of my price range. At a hundred bucks I might be tempted to buy one. Just because.

Only problem is that none of the axes at either site are worth a crap for chopping .
I'll stick with my $25 Snowe and Neely "camp axe".
It's a little light for serious axe work, but it will get fire wood around camp, drive a tent peg or split a head better than any of those over priced toys.

That ain't what they're built for Tom. They're derivatives of the Royal Marines boarding axes of the 18th century, or the older "short axes" that the archers carried, which had a spike on the end to dispatch a dismounted knight.

When was the last time you had to "dispatch" a knight, dismounted or not ?
Are they a problem in S Fla ?

Sometimes ya just want something 'cause it is COOL! I have a Dawson custom Border Bowie that is a work of art. In no way practical for what I do, I love it!

Sometimes it's mentally healthy to buy things people think you're nuts to own.
