Sledge and Phil, your ranga retires-

does this mean the conservatives have a chance?  Any opportunity for firearms restoration?  Off to work now, I'll check back in about 12 to 13 hours from now.

yep  the libs are still on track to win the next election  however KRudd is a "popular"  one  so it will give them a bit more of a challenge

got to wait for the next poles  though to see what the feeling is.

it is a complete mess how the gov has been over the last 3 to 5 years  with all the ego's getting in the way of doing the job..

Nope :(  it was the Libs under John "I hate guns" Howard that took them away from us  and Abbott ( there leader)  has been on record saying it was one of the best things that Howard ever did...
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them. The only thing you can’t do is ignore them

For those less familiar with Aussy politics, their Liberals are conservative. It's an upside down world in Aus.  ;)

In the classic sense, the founders of our country where true liberals.  It's just that a bunch of socialists hijacked the term.  At least here in the US the left has to keep their true identity hidden from the majority. And since many people really aren't well educated and/or really care it's easy to do.

Our founders weren't exactly "true liberals" in the sense that FQ would use the term , they were what was then called "Free Thinkers" . Many of their ideas, such as fiscal policy were quite conservative .
As an example, "liberals" would never have reinstated the property requirement in voting, the founders of the nation not only did so, but in several cases increased the value requirement by as much as 100%.
The fact that Obama got elected, and reelected shows they were correct, and we should have kept that requirement.
