Ammo Prices
« on: July 05, 2013, 08:40:33 AM »
After reading FQ's post re his 10/22 its peaked my interest in regards to what you pay for ammo.
For eg today I brought a bucket of remington .22s (1400 in a bucket) and I paid 85.00 which works out to be about .06c each which over here is resonably good value also brought a brick of federal standard velocity which cost me 45.00 for 500 or .09c a round.
Now Winnie PPs cost about 55-60.00 a brick and cci stingers run at about 9.00 for 50  or .18c each.
Pistol ammo 9mm usually costs around 22-25.00 per 50, .357 about 35-40.00 for 50 and 44mag and 45lc are nearly 50.00 a box.
Oh I wont bother telling you about .454 or 460 ammo cos it will make you feel like you been butt raped by the jolly green giant.
So whats the average you guys pay for

.22 standard
.22 high veloc
9mm
.357
.44 mag
.45LC

PS thankfully I reload sometimes to offset
even still powder and primer prices are rediculous
For eg a 500gr tin of ADI powder which is made here and sold over in the US as Winshitter or hodgsons is about 50.00
Primers are about 55-60.00 a thousand

I just got 500 rounds of 9mm plus a free ammo can for $150 (+shipping), which works out to 30 cents/round.  I also just picked up 200 rounds of .223 for $100.  I'll let you do the math on that one.

50 cents/round for .223 is pretty average around here right now.  You can find it a cheaper, but that's all steel case commie ammo and it stinks and smokes to high hell.  30c/rd for 9mm is about as cheap as I've been able to find it online.  Buying it in person isn't an option here because there isn't any on the shelves.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

I forgot about .223
I am paying about 15.00 per 20 for american eagle jhp and the cheapest was 10.00 for 20 of american eagle jsp. Normally looking at about 25 per 20.00 for other brands.
Seems like your prices arent that different to ours, interesting times....

Sledge, using the going exchange rate AUS/US dollars the your bucket of 22's works out to about $77 here, which is a good buy considering the ammo shortage here. I have seen .22LR prices for CCI Mini Mags range from $6.95 (USD) to about $18 for 100 rounds. For you that range is $7.22 - $20.

The exchange rate I used came from here:
