Striking read, mortdooley.

I saw not a  hint of prejudice in the writer, just a man sadly reporting the facts of the failure of his efforts to reach Black student.

Folks can be enslaved by never being required to advance more easily than by chains.  There will always be the desire, if not the spirit, to throw off the chains, but entitlements not only kills the spirit but the desire in most.

If the writer had seen any solutions, I'd guess he would have suggested them.

I would be interested in hearing what a man like Colion Noir might see as a fix.

Something along the lines of, go to school, get a J-O-B, carry a gun and quit bitching?

I no longer have any black friends, the attitudes and opinions from people I thought much better changed with the election of Obama. Zero has done more to divide the races of this country then anyone in the last 50 years.

I don't don't have enough background and knowledge to say whether the what is lacking in the Black students in the report is more biological or environmental, but I do know that many Blacks either get out of that "Welfare" trap or were never in it.

But I do know that the "trap" has been working for generations and is powerful.

I remember reading of the Black girl in the report who was having trouble with an assignment saying to the teacher  "I can't do it, I Black."   A White kid might give a similar excuse, but would say   "I can't do it, I'm stupid"  or "I can't do it.  It's too hard"

That leads me to think that she has been bombarded into believing being Black means you can't expect to achieve much...

Well, I've said before, the solution is simple, the implementation would be difficult. 

Simple stop feeding them  (not just Blacks, but anyone who doesn't work but is able).

Do away with Welfare and Public assistance.  Let it be done at the local level and by private charities where the contributions are voluntary.  Local folks will decided which charity is doing the best job and support them.

The folks receiving Welfare will learn that if they wanna eat they better find a way to support themselves.

A generation or two of hardships for sure, but it has taken many more generations to dig the trap.

Best thing you can do for Blacks, or any group of people, is to allow them to learn to be self sufficient by making it necessary for their survival to do so.
