Wow.  You're almost close enough to bug for special favors. ;)  St. Petersburg isn't that far from where you're gonna roost.

Congrats, dude.  May this turn out to be a long, lucrative and enjoyable career.

In the three years I lived there I never went to  Jacksonville Gun Club.  And I admit I didn't even know it was there.  Then I wasn't into Trap and Skeet, plus I was busy starting my new post-Air Force career and had a baby.   I did go out to a gun range west of town near Cecil Field.  Don't remember the name  (maybe Duval Gun Range?).   Shooting just wasn't a priority then.   (Blasphemy, I know.)

Ok...this gave me an idea...and I'm not sure if it is worth pursuing here...or, if it turns out to be worthwhile,  how to do it.

It started with Mericet posting about his position at a gun shop at a range....I thought it would be interesting to see pictures of the shop and the range..with comments if he felt like it.

Then when Alf here said he did not know the range existed when he lived there, I thought it might be nice to have a thread called, perhaps, My Range, were members could post web link, pictures and comments of their range.

Then I thought it might be better to have 50 threads like   My Range - Alabama, My Range - Alaska, etc.

I guess there are other lists of ranges out there, but I've never found them to be "attractive"...like listings of plumbers in the yellow pages is not as valuable as a couple of friends who have recommendations...or warnings...

I will start a thread called   My Range - Yes or No for discussion.

Thank you everyone. Looking forward to life down there.

May need to pick your brain a bit as I build up my first rifle on a Savage 111 (280 Ackley Improved for F-class open) action if that is okay with you?

I will help if I can.

Congrats!

If you get bored you can always ask FQ to teach you some air rifle techniques.

My practice ammo for fifty yard targets is still less than a penny a round. How about yours? ;D
Congrats Mericet, nice to have another pro-gun Floridian.

One more thing, Mericet...... buy up some 'skeeter repellent.  ;D

I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

Good luck, and don't let the giant cockroaches scare you.   :o
""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington.
