Couldn't I just use a propane tank?   Maybe even the smaller ones from blow torches or camping stoves?

Will work for ammo

I was wondering why in my state I can't even buy crappy little fire crackers but no issue with exploding targets.  Eventually it seems they take away everything that's fun.  :(

You can make an exploding target out of first-aid cold packs and powdered aluminum.

Would black powder ignite/explode from being shot?

Thinking a cardboard tube (toilet roll) of bp, spray glue on the out side rolled in a few primers and wrapped in duck tape and hit with a rifle or pistol would cause a boom...  ;D

Each cap would need a nipple, then you would have basically a civil war era hand grenade and no need to shoot it.
