looking for a shoulder holster
« on: August 06, 2013, 02:37:18 PM »
I don't know if this is the best place for this or not but figured I would give it a try.

I'm looking for a vertical shoulder holster that fits a 4" Ruger SP101. Specifically, I'm looking for one for my wife. I am willing to look at everything from decorated/tooled to simple, nice, and utilitarian. Shoulder isn't my preferred carry method, but if it will get her to carry more often, I'll support her.

If there is a mass produced one you've had good experience with, let me know. Or, if you can give me an estimate for custom work, I'll check that out too.

Brown, simple, and quality are my preferences.

Howdy!
You are in the perfect place to post this, as the goal of the Leather Shop is to get you the leather you need.

Someone should be along to help you out (hopefully)!

I've been meaning to update this for weeks now, but my schedule has been weird and lots of unexpected distractions.

Outrider made me (technically my wife) a custom holster for her Ruger sp101.  He was great to do business with and provided beautiful, quality work.  He listened to our needs/wants and offered professional suggestions to meet those needs.  We were originally thinking a classic vertical shoulder holster. With Outrider's advice to meet our needs (hiking/outdoors mostly) we decided to go with a Brazos/Huckleberry rig.  It sits about mid-torso and more in front than under the arm.  We haven't got to field test it, but it fits her perfect. I can't recommend him enough.

I've attached some pictures, but they don't really do it justice.

Nice holster.... nice leathercraft.

Thanks for the feedback to the forum..... It is great that members can facilitate each other in things such as this.
