Companies that do not Ship to Alaska
« on: August 12, 2013, 09:23:02 PM »
Having been up here a short time I am in need of some basic reloading supplies IE, Powder and Primers. I have scoured all of the local stores to no avail. So I decide to order from my favorite place Midway USA, and a couple of other well known on-line retailers. So I find what I need and try to check out and none of them will ship to Alaska. I am baffled by this I am the one paying and don't mind if it cost a little more shipping. Alaska is one of the most firearm friendly states in our great nation yet I can't order Ammunition, Powder or Primers. I would not be complaining if I could get what I needed here but I can't. Perhaps someone else is more enlightened on this subject could shed some light on this for me.

Don't know for sure, but I'm going to say it has to do with flying them up there. They can just drive them anywhere in the lower 48. Without driving through Canada, Alaska requires a plane or a boat.

I don't think they can ship anything like that over Canada.

yeah, they can't ship it by air and international shipping can be very messy.

I could be all wrong about this, however, Canada prohibits ammunition and components being trans shipped.  Same I think, with firearms.  All those items have to go by ocean vessel.

Thanks for the replies, I will blame it all on Canada  >:(. Wild West Guns had some Ammo but no components last time I was there. I will just have to hit the stores regularly and hopefully get lucky. Only problem with that is it leads to more guns in the collection that will require more Ammo. It's such a vicious cycle ::).
