Something is growing in Seattle...
« on: August 21, 2013, 08:06:03 AM »
Washington Cease Fire has joined with Mayor Mike McGinn to recruit businesses to become gun free zones - they even get a free sign to hang in the window.

The list of participants is growing:

Just a perfect way for pro-gun people to make choices about where to spend their hard earned money. Go ahead business owners, tell me you hate me and seek to ignore my Constitutional rights, see how much of my money comes into your cash register. Pro-gun folks, we all need to take this all the way, no more accepting this because you just gotta have one of their Burritos or are in bad need of a Latte. They are saying they hate your guts, inconvenience yourself and do without. Surely you will start to find "We support the U.S. Constitution signs in windows. Turn this around on them and throw it back in their elitist faces.  Rage against the machine. GRRRRRR   >:(

When businesses started putting up the No Guns signs after the passage of the CCW law, the Buckeye Firearms Association (BFA) produced these cards and folks gave them to business owners who posted there place.  They seemed pretty effective in getting the message out many businesses soon removed the signs.   They are not free, but cost 10 for $1.00 and have the BFA  logo and web address on the back.

Here is a link ot a pdf file showing both the front and back of the card:

Here is a link to where the cards can be purchased.  It is about half way down the list of items as the   No Guns = No Money Cards  or you can scroll down and find them.

TAB will argue, but the signs don't have the force of law so f*ck'em, carry any way if you must go into one of those places.

With the change in law here in AL, the local Sheriff is going around half lying to business owners and offering "No Firearms Allowed" signs to stick in the windows. We're documenting/informing the "no" crowd and handing out "Firearms Welcome" signs to those who want them. I've had to alter my shopping habits as a result.. He's paying for his via the Sheriff's Association.. We're paying for ours ourselves, and asking for a $3 donation (cost to produce) of those who accept the good ones..

I had a mildly funny experience today..
I got rear ended (x2) yesterday after I had to stop short.. Had to go pick up the Police Report today at the Police Station at City Hall.
I'd never been there before so I left the guns in the car and went with the empty holster and magazines still on me. The guy running the scanner told me to "Empty my pockets of all metal, and knives had to go back to the car". I told him that I had an empty holster with the magazines, showed him, and he said that I "had a nail file in your pocket. Come on through".. I asked where to pick up the report and he told me. He said that "It doesn't matter down there because everybody's a gun down there"..
Thank God for normal people!!  ;D

I had a similar experience a while back.
I had to go to Laconia PD, a cop met me in the lobby and says "Come on in back."
There was no sign saying "No Guns", but I hesitated and said , "I'm carrying."
He just laughed and said "That's OK, so are we."

As I recall, when I went over there to Court one time for "moral support", I had to check weapons inside the front door? It's been several years now. As I recall, I forgot I was armed till I was in the door, and that's what everybody else was doing, (just before the metal detector).. I still got a particularly funny look for the gun, though.. I was expecting to be tackled..

I do that all the time. I disregard all "No Carry" signs. Except for schools or Federal buildings which I have no reason to go in.

In Ohio the signs do have the force of law...but you have to be discovered, of course.

But if a firearm is detected, you face criminal charges and loss of the right to carry concealed.

That was the courthouse, that's Fed law, apparently the Cop shop is at the cities discretion.
