No, what was the biggest factor was that chains and cables can be damned hard to see at speed.
Up here it happens most winters to snowmobilers.
The land owner is usually charged with negligent homicide.

Imo if you are doing something illegal and get hurt/ killed.  You should have no recorse and no charges can be filled becuase of it.
I always break all the clay pigeons,  some times its even with lead.
