How are our NE Colorado folks?
« on: September 13, 2013, 08:44:34 PM »
I tent camped in Rocky Mountain National Park Wednesday night and woke up to discover our planned route out was closed due to floods and landslides. We had to make a 6.5 hour trip just to get about 2 down the road. Is everyone ok up there?

MB is fine.
He's also in Namibia .  ;D
Also, since the "secret hidden bunker" is around 8 - 10,000 feet, he isn't overly worried .

I heard he is secretly building an ark!
Going to put two of every firearm on board and try a breeding program when the waters recede!

I have a longtime friend from school that lives in Colorado and she posted on FB that the area they live in is totally water-locked....no way in or out. She's posting some photos of some really devastating flooding and washouts.

Prayers and best wishes to all in the affected areas.

Damn Peg looks nasty reminds me of the Queensland floods we had here a couple years back.
Not sure how big your floods are but in comparison the area flooded was the size of the whole of the United Kingdom.
They even had sharks and crocodiles swimming through flooded towns.

Mother nature sure is a bitch hope all DRTV members are safe and dry

I had a friend write that if the rain had been snow there would have been 150" of snow.

I live in Big Thompson Canyon along Hwy 34, fortunately on the opposite side from the river. Last pictures we have seen and reports from neighbors tell us that our house is OK but a couple folks across the road lost their houses. At any rate it will be weeks or even months before we can get back in to see. I have friends on the Fire Dept that will be air lifted out tomorrow and hope to get accurate info from them. Luckily, my better half, myself, and the dog were out for a couple days R&R in the motorhome and did not make it back in before the first sections of road collapsed.  Will keep you posted as we learn more.   ???

Glad to hear everyone so far is ok. Locnload, sorry to hear about your town, but at least it sounds like you made it through.

We had planned to leave the park east on 34 or 36. Both were closed by the time we were ready to leave (8am). There was serious concern that we might be stuck there for a few days. It's a good thing we over packed. Almost didn't make it out Denver either, 2 of 3 east bound lanes on I 70 were covered with water. That was a bigger concern than being stuck in the park.

My friend's sister just noted that they are having to evacuate their area.
