Path buy a clue . In your world there are two kinds of people, conservatives (defined as those that agree with you) and liberals ( Godless America hating scum bags). Here's a news flash. The world is a bigger place than that. There are those of us, a lot of us, who don't fit into your boxes. And when we contradict you, you try to force us into the liberal box as its all you know. So, when I say I don't agree with you; you and Santa think I'm Nancy's boy. I don't think she'd agree, and neither would you if you took a moment to read my many posts. Your problem is that you're so involved in trench warfare with socialists that you react with shock, consternation, and outrage when you're hit from your flank by a neutral force that despises socialists and theocrats equally. You don't have to love us, but if you're honest, you'll admit that we don't fit into your boxes and stand with Jefferson, Payne, Locke and Madison and we, quite frankly are far more American than the Robertson's and Pelosi's of this world. Thanks Marshall, we needed that. However, I will say that the fact that Dad had to threaten to "stop this car" is a pretty good indication that social conservatives and libertarians are not a good mix on anything more than an issue by issue basis. If its a comfort to the conservatives, we don't mix much better with the libs. I mean you can be dancing with a hippy chick at a pro-legalization rally, her hands wander, you're thinking good thoughts, then she feels the Glock and recoils like she was snakebit (and its not because she was a 1911 fan either ). So you get the anti-gun diatribe if you want to listen to it. Me, I don't want to get laid that bad and just walk away. Such is the life of a libertarian.
