I saw today that approx 83% of the govt is still running. Sounds totally catastrophic.  :P

The idiot NPS followed orders and put cones out on the highway to prevent people from viewing Mt. Rushmore from roadside viewing areas.

You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

They also tried to close down Mt Vernon, only to have their hands slapped.   Mt Vernon is privately owned and operated by a non-profit corporation and does not sit on federal property.

A large group of truckers is planning to descend on DC and arrest a congresscritter for violating his oath.

If that is a arrestable offense, all of DC should be in a panic.

My vote for next shutdown (to avoid the action mentioned above) is the DOT.

I read an unverified story that the Post Exchange and other facilities for those stationed there have been closed and the troops have to shop at more expensive local outlets.

The post Golf Course, however, is still open...and it was reported that BHO made regular trips there to play.

True or not, it does illustrate how any shutdown targets will likely be selected...

I saw an article on the Blaze, the Amber Alert website has been shut down, but Michelle "Buffalo Butt's" site is still up.

Found a story that talks to this topic.

Strategy For Making Shutdown "Hurt" Similar to Military Tactics

More specifically, it smacks of those kinds of collective punishment tactics used to "spread the pain" to the civilian population when cracking down on insurgents who may have general popular support.

Its amazing how Obama and the people around him view the American people as an occupied population, trying to make them "hurt" and arbitrarily punishing people with unnecessary actions like barricading popular monuments, shutting down the Amber alter site, and others I am not aware of.

[snip]

Rand Paul pointed this out when noting the President's golf course remains open and funded, and Michelle's twerking video thing is still going on, while Amber Alert is shutdown and they're erecting barriers to WW2 memorial at a greater cost than operating the park.
