SHIFT IN POLITICAL ATTITUDES?
« on: October 11, 2013, 06:01:15 AM »
McCain blamed the Tea Party for the shutdown...well, a guy named Cruz had the balls to stand up.  The great fears of the RINO's were visited upon them when the government shut down.

Now, however, it seems to me the shutdown is hurting the Dems more than the Repubs.  BHO has 37% approval (right, I believe that it is that high) and the news media won't mention a word about low approval but when Bush was at a similar number it was repeated on the news ad infinitum, ad nauseum.

I think BHO and the Dems are looking for a way out of this now and that their showboating did not go well for them to this point.  Of course, if the girl Boehner caves and sticks her behind in the air as usual then it may not hurt BHO and the Dems very much at all.

Seems to me, a little stand, a little leadership and the Dems temper tantrums, name calling and shrill claims of the end of the world don't work so well.  People follow leaders and I for one am glad Cruz stood up because some of our mindless fellow one-party citizens have been awakened....enough of them, maybe not but I like this better than rolling over all the time.

Cracks in the Dem solidarity are easy to see.  If the Repubs start leaning on the Dems claiming a shift in political attitudes, remind them of the anti-gun bums being thrown out in Colorado, remind them of the way town hall meeting were going down, explain the tax exempt status of the Tea Party may mean revival, ect...enough of the Dems will be second guessing and worried about getting re-elected to make some real changes.

The DC Mayor and non-voting Congressional Rep clearly did not hold back dressing down Reid and BHO...the drive for self-preservation over principal is a big thing for Dems and RINO's.  Not only that, but the MO for the Dem leadership is to bully and threaten and I imagine there are more than a few Dems who are tired of being threatened to stay in line that are just looking for enough of their brethren to jump ship so that they can jump too.

Conventional wisdom was that Obamacare was a steamroller.  Played right Obamacare may go away along with a bunch of lefties.

It was crystal clear that conservative leadership, albeit as exercised by Senator Cruz, would provide benefits and the McCain/Boehner/Graham/King path accomplished nothing more than slowing a misperceived "juggernaut" of leftist ideals.  It is equally clear the Democratic party is ripe for political manipulation to make conservative gains that were incomprehensible to the RINO's just a week ago.  I harbor no misperception that the nation has turned around and without getting this socialist vote-buying system reversed the harbinger of doom may only be pushed back a bit.

At this time, I would like to especially ridicule Senator McCain and Representative King for their vitriol towards conservatives and their shortsightedness in assessing the political landscape.  They should change their party affiliation to Democrat, aspiring Communist Sympathizers or scum puppies, which ever is available in their area.

I agree.  I think so too.

And I'm somewhat surprised to see the Republicans found the backbone to stand firm on the budget for so long.

Hope they keep it up.

Maybe they will find that feeling courageous and right is better than feeling like a politician....but I don't know how long that will last either.  It is good that the Dems are taking hits because of it.

Hi;

I am a 3rd Party member and I believe that the Republicans are starting to give in on this matter. I would have been constantly pointing out the fact that Bill's have been passed to fund the parts of Govt affected by the shut down ( if you want to call it that ) by the Congress and that Harry and Barry will not have a vote on them. Little is being said by Republican members enough.

I would constantly show the lack of leadership  and only Party Ideals of Harry and Barry.

Boehner, should be constantly saying that the roadblock(s) are from Barry and Harry since they said that they will not negotiate. I would be saying that "we - the congress " have done our job - it is up to Barry and Harry to do theirs. Any further shutdown and default is on them !

All I hear from Boehner is "soft" talk - "Please Negotiate"  and no firm Demanding from him. Actually, when I look at him - I see a guy who has 1 heck of a hangover !

Democrats are starting to smell blood in the water (weakness)  and are gathering and will circle around the Republicans.

I think the Republican party is going to go through some serious changes or become like the old Whig party.  The current set of democrats have screwed this country pretty good recently while most of the establishment Republicans have done little to stop them and have even been there willing accomplices at times.  As for me, I disdain both parties, just at different levels.

I have been telling everyone that this is one of the first times in my adult life I can say I'm proud of the Republican congressmen/women.  I also get the feeling that, despite the media slanting towards the contrary, a growing number of people are aware that this shutdown is not the Republicans fault.  It is obvious that they (Dems and Administration) are attempting to hurt as many people as they can with the shutdown, or at least in as many publicly visible ways, as long as it's not their main voter base.  I'm sure they are hoping any collateral damage will hurt the Repubs more than the Dems, but I really don't think so.  Who knows...

I have long believed that we have a one party system with two faces, the fire I have seen in Tea Party supported members of Congress have made me revise my opinion to a one and a half Party system. Dennis Prager has often asked why most people have conservative views but vote for liberals and it must be as simple as they vote for their team. Older Americans will tell you that the Republicans are only for the rich and will not consider they were sold out by the Democratic Party from the start. It all comes down to your team and my team. My team believes in Freedom, Liberty and opportunity for a better life, your team believes in free stuff and fear of those who expect you to earn what you have.

Might I bring up this last paragraph again.  Just to confirm it and rub it in along with Billy Kristol, George Will and Hank Paulson.

Paul Ryan should consider a change as well........

Might I bring up that last post again and rub it in on....who is Kristol and Will?  Hank Paulson got a federal income tax pass on 1% of Goldman stock he sold when Secretary of Treasury for George W. Bush...he should pay that tax or shut up.

By the way, this old poll is not locked so if some of you guys want to change your votes go right ahead!!!
