Springfield EMP 9mm
« on: November 07, 2013, 06:56:46 AM »
So who owns one and how does it shoot?

I have been avoiding actively looking for one of these because I know I am a weak willed individual when it comes to the 1911 platform.  While cruising the LGS last night I happened to spot one in the case. Until this time I have never seen one in stock.  There is something about putting that wonderful shape in your hand that just feels right. So this visit is probably going to cost me alot of money unless anyone here has good reasons not to buy.
Help me save money or spend it, here is your chance to impact the economy in the norh woods of Wisconsin.

Added:  This may seem like a revisit of an earlier thread by me when I asked about the Springfield compact. They also had one of those.  Loved the fit of that as well, but the singlestack 9mm is the form factor of desire this time.

I can relate to the attraction. Looks and feels great with a 1911 trigger pull! I have avoided buying one so far. The poly compacts for half the price seem so much more reasonable.

Yep..... What Joe said.

My love affair with the 1911 leads me to want an EMP.....a lot......I just can't justify the extra expense for a "want" right now when I have a tool (G27) that fills the need.

I have held one a few years back when they first came out...... and it felt great in the hand.... I guess maybe due to the familiar ergonomics of the 1911 combined with the fact that the entire design is scaled down to fit the cartridge size instead of a full-sized gun chopped down to make it feel compact (while remaining full-sized in certain areas).

Yeah, I want one.

I'm interested in how this turns out too, Peg....the EMP is on my short list for the next carry-sized pistol.

This is a work in progress. My LGS sold the one they had in stock before I made the commitment.  Our Christmas expenses for the kids and grandkids also exceeded my budget. The next best plan is going to be to have the shop order one in and make long term layaway payments. This may be a good thing. The boss grumbled something about me needing to find a second job though.

The bosses are always grumbling.  You need to come up with the litany of Guy Things you DON'T do...run around, golf, fishing, boating, bowling, darts, african safaris, curling,(is that a guy thing?), jet skis, etc.

I want an EMP also....in a big way!  A few sharp corners and etc. for me but I will cope.  Also thinking about having the barrel fluted or something to shave a little weight off it for CCW!  Looking at a Sig 938 first though.

Richard

PS:  If'in I hit the MM drawing tonight I can have both several times over!  LOL
