Flashlight Review (yes, yet another)
« on: November 07, 2013, 01:04:27 PM »
OK, I know some of you (yes, I am one also) are always on the scout for good flashlights..... so here is a pretty solid light for a great price, and most of you can get one locally.

I happened to be in Lowes a few weeks ago and they had a display on the end of a aisle with flashlights for $20. It was advertised as 500 lumens, so I figured what the heck and grabbed one.

Boy, this thing is bright!!

It comes with three C-cell batteries, and has a high and low beam capability. On high, you can easily discern objects up to 200 yards away at night. It is a spot-type beam on high and the low is about the same as my 120 lumen pocket light, with more of a flood-style beam. The operating pressure switch is recessed in the tailcap and is fairly easy to use one-handed because the light is fairly light.

Long-term reliability remains to be seen, but through short-term use, I love the light (so much so that I went back and bought two more for home and truck..... and three more for gifts).
There is also a return policy through Lowes, and they offer an extended warranty on the light for an additional fee, but I can't remember the cost.

**Edit:
The protection plan is on the page at the link. The 1-year replacement plan is $5 and the 2-year plan is $7.

Peg, is the switch click on/off or does it have a momentary feature?
For $20 that's a good deal either way.

My favorite flashlight uses C batteries. It feels more comfortable and secure in my hand than a D cell flashlight.

Flashlights are like ammo you never can have too many.

It is click on.
First click is high....then low.... then off.
No momentary, unless the light is on.......then you can press slightly and hold for temporary off.
