Really, John?!

I thought about posting this in the Joke Thread, but that would do real injustice to honest humor...

John McCain: People Want Me to Run For President Again, You Know
Katie Pavlich | Nov 11, 2013

In an interview with the Arizona Republic, Senator John McCain revealed that some people want him to run for president again...which would be the third time unsuccessfully.

Since his statesman-like role in the recent partisan fight over government funding, U.S. Sen. John McCain says he has been encouraged to make a third run for the White House in 2016.
“Particularly since the shutdown, I’ve had a spate of e-mails and letters and phone calls saying, ‘Run for president again,’ ” McCain told The Arizona Republic. “As you know, I’m seriously thinking about running for re-election to the Senate. But I think, in the words of the late Morris K. Udall, as far as my presidential ambitions are concerned, ‘The people have spoken — the bastards.’ ”

Those bastards! Two failed presidential bids later and it seems McCain still hasn't accepted that he might be part of the problem.

It was just a few short months ago when McCain was saying he didn't want to be "that guy" who would never shove off and out of the Senate. McCain is 77-years-old and has been in Washington since 1982. Clearly McCain's tune has changed as he gets ready to run again for the Senate in 2016.

Going back to the article, I'm not sure what's more nauseating, McCain saying people are telling him to run for president again or the first line stating, "Since his statesman-like role in the recent partisan fight over government funding..."

Are we now counting McCain giving the Democratic response to Republican Ted Cruz' filibuster as a "statesman-like" role? Is siding with hard liberal partisan Harry Reid "statesman-like"? Apparently so.

*****************

It's not like anybody has indicated that we take this stuff seriously or anything.
Go ahead, John. Maybe you can get Frank Zappa on the ticket this time, to give it some "gravitas"..

3rd try retreads always do so well in elections.  ::)
That "encouragement" might be coming from his opponents who obviously know how to kick his ass or maybe the bats in his belfry.

Dear John,
As one of your constituents, you ARE "that guy" who would never shove off" - feel free to do so now.
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

I've thought that for some time...

He should have officially retired years ago.

Seems like his time in the Senate has warped his mind worse than his stay at the Hanoi Hilton.

I stayed out of the 2008 primaries here because I didn't see J.D. (Tax Breaks For Casinos) Hayworth as that much of an upgrade.

Not this time.

John, thank you for your service, but your time to serve has come to an end.
I can't understand people who think banning guns makes them safer. They must also believe that banning books makes them smarter.

My mom and my wife tell me that I'm handsome.  It doesn't mean that 51% of America thinks so.
Bravery and stupidity are often synonymous.  So are cowardice and intelligence.

"We Americans have been a rebellious band of freedom loving vagabonds from the very beginning. Our freedom from the crown and tyranny would not exist had it not been for the gun. That's a tradition we like to hold on to.  The same can't be said for the rest of you 'Subjects of the Queen'."--said to a Canadian friend who just doesn't get it.

I think he's been listening to that girl who says "buy me drinkie", then tells him how handsome and smart he is just before she says "suckie, fuckie, twenty Dollar".
(I'm sure long since adjusted for inflation..)

I know. Sorry. I couldn't resist..  ::)
