CCW permit holder stops mass shooting in a Nevada Bar!
« on: May 29, 2008, 03:10:55 PM »
Did you hear about the CCW permit holder who stopped a mass shooting (2 dead & 2 wounded victims + the shooter is dead) in Nevada?  Mass media is trying to play it off as a "3 dead, 2 wounded at bar shooting" story & mostly ignoring it altogether.  It's a good thing Nevada does not make Bars "gun free zones"  Full details here:

According to the National Safety Council, we are more likely to die in a bicycle accident or plane crash than an accidental gun shooting.  We should  ban bicycles & planes before banning guns.

In my neck of the woods it is illegal for a CCW holder to carry a weapon into an establishment that serves alcohol. Why? Hell if I know. There is already a law in place that says that you can't drink alcohol while carrying a concealed weapon - that is reasonable, but saying that you can't safely take your family into a restaurant that serves alcohol is absurd!

I agree 100% - lucky for many potential victims in Nevada they don't declare places that serve alcohol to be gun free zones.  Gun free zones, especially in unsecured areas, have got to be among the most moronic ideas the anti-gun movement has come up with.  Only after gun free zones were invented did we start seeing mass shootings - all targeting the unsecured gun free zones where they can rack up a high body count without any resistance from the disarmed helpless people within them.  The only folks armed in gun free zones are the Police (if they happen to be there) & the criminals or mentally insane.  Completely ridiculous.

So very true.  They can't portray a gun & a gun owner in a positive light, so most of the headlines in this story (all local to Nevada that I've seen so far) are trying to portray it as "3 killed & 2 wounded in a bar shooting"

Here in NC, No concealed carry in ANY estab. that serves alcohol. Even better, is the ZERO tolerance for carrying concealed.
Even if I'm in the middle of the woods and have 1 beer, if I'm carrying concealed: BUSTED.

But I can legally holster in plain view and chug beer all day. :-\

We also have a host of "Blue Laws" that are also ridiculous. Nanny state mindset, that are supposed to be for our own good, because the state citizenry can't do it for themselves.

Of course the MSM won't report this favorably. But they will report for two weeks a mentally disturbed person who shoots anything!
Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."
Col. Jeff Cooper.

I hate Nanny State mentality.  If I wanted a Nanny I'd hire one.  Every time the government creates some new law that is supposed to be for our "own good" they really make a mess of things in addition to eroding the Freedoms that our Country was founded on.  Just look at the great prohibition on alcohol & the ban on handguns in Washington DC as a couple of examples.  Legislation was even considered recently in California that would have given the government control of peoples thermostats, giving the government the ability to raise the temperature setting during the summer or lower it during the winter whenever they want to in order to reduce electricity consumption.  Unbelievable.

Bullseye!

I havent even seen this reported on the cable news. But this is a major story, or at least it should be for the catastrophic way it could have turned out.

Very true.  The Police have not yet reported how many additional rounds of ammunition the killer had when he was taken down by the CCW permit holder, but the Police did report that there were about 300 people in and around the Bar at the time so we know there were plenty of potential victims in the area.

At least Florida has a little bit of sense when it comes to carrying into resturants. As long as you do not enter the bar area concealled and remain in the dining area, provided they are seperate, your good to go.
Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. - George Washington
