Not really. There are a lot of differences between me and Phil Robertson...some good some bad. We are not really alike, but yet, we are.
As a nearly 60 year old white man who has worked as much as I was allowed to for my whole life, who believes in God, maybe not like Phil does or YOU do, have been married twice but have spent the last 33 years with one (and only one) woman, I am ALL the things they say I am.
I'm a heartless REPUBLICAN FACIST who would rather see kids go hungry than Monsanto go without. Not really, but if you are registered with anything other than D after your name, that's who you are. I'm an idiot HATER who believes in the silly God of old... like I said, I don't believe maybe like YOU do, but I'm spiritual. That makes me a HATER. I didn't buy into the whole "Obama will save the world" and as of now, I can't understand how he could either not be responsible and not know about EVERYTHING that his administration has screwed up since he's been in office. That makes me a TEA PARTY person (even though I'm not a member), and it makes me a RACIST. I was born and raised a racist and overcame it with the help of God and my wonderful wife. Now when someone suggests that I am a racist I take great insult, and point out to them that it is THEY who are the racist.
I like some men as friends and admire many of them, but I really don't want to smell their sweat or play with their junk. That makes me a homophobe and a gay hater. I know a lot of gay people and admire some of them just like the other people I know....but, gol durnit, I likes me some women. They are soft and they smell good and they coo when they like you. Good stuff there.
Another term I see bandied about a lot now as an insult is "teabagger" . I know they use it instead of saying "Tea Party Member". I must admit ignorance, but I believe that "teabagging" is a term for an activity that comes from the gay male community? At least that's what I thought. Well, if I'm a homophobe or a facist conservative or whatever, and you want to insult me about my stance on gay rights, isn't calling me "Teabagger" like calling me gay? So gay is ok but calling ME gay is an insult? I don't understand that one.
The point is, I am planning a Facebook post to let all of the people I'm connected to know that it's ok...I realize that I am all of those things and that some people just don't have the resources at hand to actually discuss something, so they must resort to name calling. I get it.
Jesus would have liked Facebook because it gives a great boon to the unfortunate. For the uneducated, the mentally challenged, the woefully uninformed, the intellectually challenged, the wayward souls bereft of purpose and a value system....Facebook has given them all a forum where they can mouth off in public, without getting their asses kicked.
Kudos, Facebook. We are now truly free.
