And of course, the recent shooting by a retired captain - who put together the local SWAT team back in the day - who shot a man and his wife for texting their 3yo daughter in a movie theater. I hate texting in theaters (I do rarely go, though), but still, a capital offense.

They get away with it because there are no repercussions for them. Witness the jackass in Ohio who threatened a guy with immediate summary execution for carrying concealed. He's trying to get back on the PD, claims he was wrongfully fired for PTSD.

The retired PD captain is under arrest, but not for murder.

The  'Them against us' attitude again.

They need to stop this quick....I expect there to be backlash if it continues.

While I don't condone it, I would find it hard to condemn it.  Like I said, both police and civilians should be playing by the same rules.

Agreed.
Just to pick a nit...police ARE civilians.   
If you don't go to jail because you quit your job, you're a civilian.
They have some privileges granted by statute but that doesn't include a free ride on homicides.
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

I lived in the Yakima Valley for over 30 years. Went to trade school in Yakima worked as a Bailbondsman up there too. I even took and NRA class that included some classroom training from a YPD officer. He told us of a situation where he responded to a call about a man chasing kids with a machete. When he arrived at the scene the man with the machete runs and seemingly oblivious to any commands. He didn't stop and drop the weapon until he was with 10'. No extra holes in the bad guy.

My how things have changed.

Some cops act like they have a license to kill. When I was younger I thought a lot of cops were a**holes but at least they weren't so trigger happy back then. Why is this acceptable behavior now? And it must be acceptable because they get away with it.

Riddle me this Batman:

This man was doing something so suspicious that he needed to be observed and then  approached.  Upon initial contact there was not notification, but close enough proximity to observe what was happening in the car - Peeping Tom type contact.

With an hour of observation, why did this officer choose to move in closer without backup?

Why did he choose to enter the vehicle and execute the person rather than back away and wait for help?
