Okay...shootin' a baloon through a bent pipe is just cool.  8)

During WWII the Germans developed an attachment for the StG 44 that had a 90 degree bend in the barrel for shooting around corners during street fighting using prismatic sights it was reported to actualy be fairly accurate.

Actually, it was developed for the Elefant SPG which did not have good self-defense capabilities. When overruning an Elefant, the Russkies would swarm on the gun trying to breach the hatches. So the STG-44 was developed so they could stick the barrel out and sweep the deck of the SPG with auto fire.

Tends to shatter the bullets though, although at short ranges that's just more shrapnel.

One thing I do have to complain about is the camera work.  I never like looking down the barrel.

I had that same reaction, very bad gun safety lesson. They should have had a disclaimer, although I would have laughed at that too. The NRA show's "remote camera" disclaimer always gets at least a snort now.

There were also a few with a 45 degree angle, but 90 degree was found to be more practicle.

Just bumped this up in case there are those out there who have not seen it.

Extreme Marksmen is on the History Channel tonight at 8:00....followed at 10:00 by an episode of Modern Marvels on target shooting and hitting the bullseye.

Bloody hell.  House just got hit by lightening and now cable's out so I'll miss it.
When seconds mean the difference between life and death, the police will be minutes away.

***UPDATE***

Many apologies to anyone who turned to the History channel and didn't find the show.

It's on History International.

Sorry folks......I'll go to the corner and just sit facing the wall.
