My Sister's Birthday

In a "good news/bad news" kind of situation, I bought an IWB holster for my sister in CA last night. The good news is that she is a card carrying gun owner and has just secured her CCW and I am happy and proud about that. (And jealous because I still can't carry in my home state).
The bad news is that she NEEDS to carry due to some very unfortunate circumstances- life is interesting.

My wife and I gave her the money for what she ended up buying...a very tidy, beautiful blued Taurus 85. She picked up a soft synth OWB thing with a strap and sent me a picture...I was like, "No" . "Go online and look at some of these".  She ended up with a Bianchi 100 and she was unhappy that I was paying $57 for it. I told her that $57 is cheap for a good holster and if it's comfortable she'll be able to use it and wear it a lot more and that's all good.
She's very happy and has promised to practice slow and methodical draw and presentation with her snap caps. She has a few LEO and Vet friends who will help her with that. All in all I'm proud of her for taking charge, and I'm glad there's another one of "Us Gun Folk".
I got the blues as my companion.

Good news, Jay.

I have been seeing many woman getting into shooting for defense and competition.

Many young women, 20s or so, are getting involved...and I believe it is the best thing that could happen to our community.

I honestly think that the more women are involved, the more secure our rights will become.

Red, we've had our ups and downs but she's my little sister and she needed some help quick... but now she is standing tall and it's great to see.

Good to see you back on "the board" too! Hope you're feeling better.

I am thankful that your sister has both the family and friends supporting her, and that she has taken the steps toward personal protection and safety.

I have a niece (wife's sister's kid) who could not come to visit for Christmas, because she is being stalked by someone.  She needed to be back in Kansas for a Court Hearing to get her "ultimate" protection - A restraining order.  This side of the family thinks fighting back and guns in particular are EVIL.  I have tried to get her, her husband, and her parents to sit through an informal Refuse To Be A Victim class that I will tailor just for them, but "that is wrong."  The police will protect us, and the Court is "granting" her a restraining order.  "All will be good, and nobody will get hurt."

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

Now the other side of the family, my sister's daughter has four spawn, and here is a family photo they had taken last week:



Not saying we are a family of action, but it was these boys uncle who made me an offer:
When our now ex son-in-law went bad, our loving nephew, uncle to these three boys, offered to make him disappear.  He promised he had friends that would help him, and nobody would ever know.  Nice to know who has your back, but we thankfully declined as we brought her into a safe setting.

Solus, I agree that the more women involved, the more secure our rights will be.

M58, I hope your niece knows that the courts have ruled that the police and government have no legal responsibility to protect "us".  Let alone the practicality of them being really being able to do so.
The thing about stalkers is that many of them will never quit.  Sometimes the matter needs to be delt with in a more personal nature.

One of my pet peeves is someone who spends good money on a gun then buys the equivalent of a nylon potato sack to carry it.
You can say lots of bad things about pedophiles; but at least they drive slowly past schools.

I have tried my best.  She, her sister, her husband, her parents, her uncle (my wife's and her mother's brother), and their entire social circle classify me as just right of satan.  To them I am nothing but a redneck, gun toting, Bible thumping, son of a bitch, and it is people like me who are the cause of all of our nation's problems.  This is the same crew who has sat in my house and lectured me on the evils of guns, and instructed me not to talk to them about them.  It seems to me that that was the moment I pulled mine out and laid it on the table.

Some sheep deserve to be eaten.  Not that I want it to happen or that I haven't try to prevent it, but some day it could happen, and I will stand in the funeral home during visitation and openly state that I warned her.
