Can anyone tell me about new taurus millinium pro series
« on: June 18, 2008, 05:17:31 PM »
I saw a good deal at academy on the taurus millinium pro PT 145. I never own a taurus but i heard the guns are not worth buying. I think for $289.00 for a .45 cal is a good deal but I like to know if I am trowing my money away. Please can someone give me some good advice about this little gun.

There were problems with earlier models.
I've got the newest PT145 with rail under the front of the barrel (for mounting things like lazers/ lights).Actually just out shooting it.
If you get the model with the rail (newest model) you should have no problems. :)

I have a PT 140 and love it, short break in period, especially with the mags. they are almost impossible to fill the first few times, but they break in nicely. I suggest 200 rds to break it in. great shooter and shoots to point of aim great. I would buy another.

Freind of mine has a 9mm, His only complaints were the stiff mag spring and the front sight screw loosens up. (Told him to try blue lock tite on that)

I have a second generation  PT111 9mm DAO which has been perfect.  Never 1 Malfunction and it's a good shooter.

I have a PT 24/7 PRO 40  with over 5,000 rounds. The only failures where caused by me  it is a !st year production model. Important things to remember are to keep the striker system clean and do not use aerosol based cleaners as they may cause primer a failure. Other than that they are great pistols. If you prefer a hammer fired pistol you may want to look into the new 800 series that Taurus has just announced.

I have the PT145. Paid about $300 here in Texas. First problem, sights were off. Way off. Sent it back and 3 months later - new sights (problem fixed). Next problem - with a full magazine and an empty chamber, the slide would catch preventing the chambering of a round. Worse if you tried it "in a hurry." Sent it back (this time at their expense) and 2 months later - new parts and a functioning gun. To be fair, I appreciate its size and handling. It shoots well without much recoil (relatively speaking). Before buying this gun, I wrote to one of the popular gun writers from another gun show who swears the PT 145 is his personal defensive pistol. He feels the problems were mostly confined to the first generation. He did state in his email that it's still his gun of choice. I like the gun but will give it a thorough work out at the range before putting it back into rotation as my primary carry gun.

I have been looking at the Millinium 9MM as a practice gun and possibly carry.  I like the reviews I have heard here.  I've heard good things about them from people at my local range too.  Anyone have anything, good or bad, to say about the trigger pull?  Long?  Short?  Heavy?  Light?
