SIG P225

I just picked up a used SIG P225.  The German police trade in.  Good shape.  But I have one question.  The side holster that came with it has the strangest snap arrangement I have ever seen.  For the life of me, I can't figure out what the purpose of them is.  Any ideas?

So, what does the holster look like? My guess without seeing the holster is that it is just the standard German method of securing a pistol. Is there a flap? or no flap? Is there a post or a snap? Show us a picture.

Place P-6 in holster.  Snap both snaps(like a stack).

To draw, with right index finger, push outer tab down(to the ground) as you grip P-6, releasing outer snap.  Leave inner snap alone.  Pull P-6 straight up, the inner snap will release automatically with this motion.  Ready to engage target.

BTW, if you push the chrome button on the top portion, the swivel can be removed and the rest of the holster becomes a standard belt holster.

On monday I finally got my sig225 (p6) This thing is great! It really love 124gr +p GOLD DOTS and ate 100 rounds of a "junk" box I had of various FMJ and HP ammunition. I was highly suprised by the accuracy of this weapon. I put a full 50 rounds of the +p GOLD DOTS thru it and now have it in and IWB holster with 9 in the gun and a spare in a neat smooth leather single mag case (black) that came with it. I laughed at the holster and threw it in my box of holsters and other duty belt pieces. This goin to remain my off duty weapon for a while. I plan only to put a strip of skate board tape on the front strap and some night sight will complete it. The bluing is OK and I realy dont care how it looks anyhow. I would recomend this to anyone wanting a good CCW or nightstand pistol.

I've had similar experiences with my P-6.  It's fun to shoot and I'm really happy with it.  One mod I've made so far is swap out the hollow recoil spring guide rod for solid stainless steel.  The Sig design has a high bore axis and has more muzzle flip than other 9mm designs so the extra weight up front  helps.  I've ordered a standard P225 strength mainspring from Wolff to replace the P-6 West German police spec spring to lighten up the double action pull.  Hopefully this would do the trick.  One ammo note:  my P-6 did have feedramp hangups with CCI 115gr JHP.  Yeah this round is no longer in production anyway, but as  always, test your serious ammo before you carry.   BTW, my G-26 ate up the remaining box of ammo...yum.

Thanks Mojave Desert.  That makes sense.  Like someone said, typical german over engineering.  Great pistol, odd holster.  I am planning on taking mine out this week.  Have always wanted a SIG.  I plan on giving this one to my son for Christmas.  I think he will be surprised.
