Well you all should have known this question was going to come up now that I have this beautiful rifle.
I want to keep this rifle forever, and I want to hand it to down to my son, daughter, or grandchild. There is a very special meaning to this rifle, not only my first, but how I obtained it, and the just the unparrelled beauty. I have picked out a name for her. It is a dedication to my two Grandmothers (Dad's mom & Mom's mom) that had huge hands in raising me and were basically my mothers growing up. I spent alot of time with both of them and miss then dearly. So her name is Myrtha Marie.
So this is the question; how do I keep the wood oiled\maintained?
I am pretty crazy about keeping my guns really clean and always ready to go, and Haz already gave me some good pointers on keeping the barrel and action clean and lubed, but I would really like to hear everyones thoughts or tricks to keeping this rifle in good condition?
I know my modernal rifles M4\M16\AR's M249, 240Bravo, Ak.ect. But this is my first civilian long gun. So I cant hear or learn enough.
Also you have any general pointers or knowledge that you think I should know that would be awesome too. Tools\Ammo\Oil\Grease I downloaded a Winchester 1892 operations manual that has tons of good stuff in it, but like I said I cant learn enough.
Are you all tired of hearing about her yet??? LOL
