Just as a Practical Matter
« on: June 27, 2008, 12:23:55 AM »
OK, lets say I live in Washington DC and now want to exercise my recently affirmed Second Amendement rights. Where can I go?
A quick check of the online Yellow Pages doesn't show any firearms retailers in the District of Columbia. There are retailers in Maryland and Virginia but do not appear to be any in the DC area. There is an online "Glock Store" that seems to sell only parts and accessories through a website. And I can't buy a handgun without completing the transfer through a dealer in my state/federal enclave of residence, right? So is it even possible for a Washington DC resident to buy a handgun even if allowed?

Just wondering...

Interesting question, Same sex Marriages were happening before the ink was dry. Any body know the answer?
On one of the threads I scanned Thursday morning Some one in DC said that all hand guns still needed to be registered and it would take time to come up with regulations. If you have not done so already read through the threads about the decision, the info may be in there. I have not had a chance to do more than scan a couple of posts yet but plan on going through them all this weekend .
PS welcome to the Forum, I've met a lot of nice and well informed folks here.

VPC has an FFL and I believe they're HQ is in DC.  Ask them if you can transfer through them.

I read somewhere? that there are no gun stores in DC. And I think they have 27 days to get the registration thing going. Not sure where I read the 27 day thing, read a lot of different info yesterday.

The police chief in DC was hired because he is an avowed gun grabber, so he will make life miserable for anyone wanting a handgun. This is the wave of the future - OK you can have a gun. Now fill out all of these papers, get fingerprinted, go through NCIS 10-12 times, and we'll get back to you someday when the paperwork is done.

Heller made out because DC was ordered to give him his permit.

Path,

Police chief is a she and as anti rights as you can be.  Remember, this is the brainiac that wanted to set up 'check points' to some neighborhoods.

The ATF can provide you with a list of all FFL holders... I'm sure there is a few in DC.

Right. I was thinking the chief was still Gainer, a former Illinois State Police (i.e., political) chief.
