Joe Horn
« on: June 30, 2008, 05:59:06 PM »
Joe Horn, a resident of Pasadena Texas, was No Billed ( not charged ) by the Harris County Grand Jury today for the shooting of two men burglarizing his neighbor's house. After calling 911 to report the theft, he stayed on the line for 7 minutes giving a running commentary on the crime in progress. When no police had shown up, he told the 911 operator that he was going to stop the criminals. Apparently they were using his back yard as a short cut. This entire incident was recorded on the phone line by the 911 operator, and this recording was introduced as evidence to the Grand Jury. Horn expressed deep regret at the taking of human life, and since he hasn't been interviewed for some time, I can't guess as to his reaction by the Grand Jury, but I'm sure he is greatly relieved.

The fact that Horn felt he had no choice but to take the law into his own hands, is an indictment on the whole criminal justice system as it exist today. Apparently, a police officer was on site in an unmarked car watching the entire incident. Fed up with the crime rate in his neighborhood, and not knowing if the police were going to act or not, Horn felt it emperitive to stop the crime, to protect his neighborhood.

The two men who were killed were both illigal aliens with records. One of them had already been deported once for criminal activity. While no one condones street justice or the taking of human life, this entire incident could have been avoided if the police had acted promptly or if criminals would actually be incarcerated.

Anyway that's what I think.

How much was the bill for? What're 2 illegal aliens going for these days.

Or is "bill" being used in some obscure legal manner?

Some people work very hard to get themselves killed. As TAB correctly noted earlier somewhere, the police have no responsibility to protect the public on an individual basis (paraphrased). Some people just need killed. Regrettable, yes. Preventable, no.

If you don't believe that, you have lived a very blessed life.

You did right, Joe. Thanks.

He is a lucky man, all the laws in NC regarding shooting someone is strictly in an imminent threat, SD situation.

If I recall, his life was not in any danger for those 7 minutes on the phone.  BUT its two less scumbags off the street, and it did happen in Texas,.... 8)

Thomas Jefferson: The strongest reason for the people to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against the tyranny of government. That is why our masters in Washington are so anxious to disarm us. They are not afraid of criminals. They are afraid of a populace which cannot be subdued by tyrants."

Any links?  I have been following this story and I know that there are some that are VERY upset with this (correct!) decision.

Which one Haz? The Seagroves case was covered in the Durham Sun. BTW, Durham is pronounced by the locals as DERM, rhymes with germ. Not making any corollary at all, honest Mayor Bell.

The Horn case in TX.  The local poverty pimp (can't remember his name) was all over this 'racial' case.

May God bless The Republic of Texas!

He went to help a neighbor by defending the neighbor's property and by Texas law he did the right thing.  If I understand it right, he went outside to stop the bad guys and when he asked them to stop they ran with one running right by him.  If I recall there was an undercover or off-duty LE that witnessed the shoot.  Lucky for Joe TX law is what it is.

Real question ... what type of shotgun and loads was he using?   ;)
