The ALCU and the Heller Decision
« on: July 04, 2008, 05:52:43 AM »
The ACLU interprets the Second Amendment as a collective right. Therefore, we disagree with the Supreme Court’s decision in D.C. v. Heller. While the decision is a significant and historic reinterpretation of the right to keep and bear arms, the decision leaves many important questions unanswered that will have to be resolved in future litigation, including what regulations are permissible, and which weapons are embraced by the Second Amendment right that the Court has now recognized.

This is absolutely amazing. It removes all doubt that anyone in the ALCU is fighting for the constitutional rights of anyone...NOT.

So far there is 325 comments to this Blog and I  found a single one, #197, in support of their position. Not surprised. Take a few minutes and read some of the comments. Many are from libs and some are from ALCU contributors (most now former).

I liked the post that pointed out that the 2nd Amendment is the only one that the ACLU will not fight for.

Bob, I have concluded that it isn't their legal positions on any issue that sets their course, it is the further entrenching of the legal SYSTEM that feeds them all that is the paramount concern. They are actually thrilled by the decision. Plenty of work for them all.

I wonder if Justice Ginsberg wrote that statement for the ACLU>
Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself. They are the American people's liberty teeth and keystone under independence. The very atmosphere of firearms everywhere restrains evil interference. - George Washington

The Constitution established Judicial Immunity, lest the wheels of Justice be impeded by fear of retaliation. It is often taken to extremes.

Yup ... But I also remember reading in Civics, back in the day when school actually taught this stuff, that in the writings of the Founding Fathers it was written by more than one that a good reason for citizens to be armed was so they could overthrow the Government if it got out of hand.
