Overload,I saw Sammy way back on the Mike Douglas show. He was about 10 or 15 feet from the target (wood). He threw a knife, drew and fired and the knife landed IN the bullet hole! But he wasn't the fastest draw. Can ya guess who was?
Well he probably is BUT I mean 'hollywood' types.
Soon the event spread to Hollywood celebrities and western movie stars. Surprisingly, the fastest guns in Hollywood in theearly 60's were 1st = Jerry Lewis, 2nd = Sammy Davis Jr. and 3rd = Dean Martin. Dean and Sammy both did some western films, while Jerry didn't really use guns on camera. The1960s National Fast Draw Championships were held annually in Las Vegas, Nevada and were sponsored by Colt firearms and the Sahara Hotel and Casino.Alfonso Pedia of Alfonso of Hollywood made the fast draw rigs for Hollywood celebrities such as John Wayne, Gary Cooper, Jerry Lewis, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and James Arness as well as most of the stuntmen in the motion picture industry that included Johnny Mac Brown, David Sharpe and Yakima Canut.Over the years the sport has seen a number of changes in techniques and equipment. In 1976 the two largest Fast Draw organizations, the Western Fast Draw Association and the Mid-Western Fast Draw Association, merged to form the World Fast Draw Association, which governs the sport today.http://www.westernshows.netfirms.com/fastdraw.htm
