Easter Surprise!
« on: April 21, 2014, 10:01:48 AM »
So I get a phone call from the Post Office Sunday morning and find that our new arrivals showed up about a week early. So I went and picked up 32 fluffy peeps and surprised my sweetie for Easter Sunday. How cool is that!?!?!?

I assume you procured the little cuties for laying eggs not wings dipped in ranch dressing?

What breed are they? We have 19 chickens, my favorite is a "naked neck turken" we call Crazy Betty because of her wild excitement over hand fed treats.

There are 3 different breeds: Barred Rock, Buff Orpington, and Silver Dorkings. We got them for both laying and some in the freezer this winter. Probably thin them out to about a dozen through the winter. The Dorkings are my favorite. They are a breed that dates back to Roman times and are now considered critically endangered.
