Ok, back home now, match started at 9:45 and was over at 3:00, 63 shooters, great turn out for July in Texas, It hit a 100, before we were through. 5 stages, 5 runs per stage with your worst thrown out, all stages had stop plates.

Long story short, I did not  M bareass myself, I came in second in my class ( open revolver ) , and 15th overall. Everything felt very  mechanical, not as smooth as it should have been, my draws were not up to par, and grip transition needs work. But I carried on, 14 seconds down from the match winner, and I can think of 4 seconds I gave up easily. But that's the good part. I know what to work on, and what to fix. It's been 8 years since I've been amongst them, and I will tell you, the competition has gotten better, the lower class shooters are much improved from when I left. ;D  Lots of people saying man, I have not seen you in years.

I will try to get in some practice at lunch this week, working on draws and grip transition. ;)

My total time for 5 stages, 5 plates at a time with my worst time on each stage thrown out, that is 100 plates drawing from the holster to start the string of 5 , was 74.10 seconds, the match winner shot them in 60 seconds. :o

Time to PRACTICE. 8)

The Aussie came in 7th, but my club has already corrupted him and He was shooting a Bottom feeder.

Follow up, I shot again this Sunday, the plate match 1st, started at 10:00 am,  and then the ..22rf carbine match afterwards. Long day, and it hit 105 degrees, some wind and in shade wasn't too bad.  Finished at 6:30 pm.  4 matches in 2 months, unbelievable., Loading  for the next match. KInd of like doing 2 a days when I played football. I feel like I need to immerse myself for a while in shooting tournaments, to get back into the mindset and routine. I know competition is good for me, and I'm trying to have fun. I mostly am.  Just wanted to give an update.

I came in 1st in my class ( AA open revolver ) and 9th overall in the plate match.
I came in 2nd in the .22 carbine match. It was a blast, like 180 rounds.

If your club is not doing the carbine thing, they should try it. Especially with ammo so high.

Another steel match tomorrow, followed by the .22rf carbine match. Last month I shot open and limited revolver, at the end shooting the carbine match I was out of gas, and my Trijicon tripower was washing out on the white steel plates. Sending it back and don't know if it will be any different, I hope so, as it is my favorite. Mounted my spare Eotech 512 and got it sighted in, and we will see what happens, I know it won't wash out.

Just going to shoot the open revolver tomorrow, went from a Tasco PDP4 to a Cmore, the Cmore is lower to the bore, but takes some getting used to, I was having a real hassle going from open sights to the PDP4, because the sight pictures were so different as far a presenting the pistol and finding the dot, versus looking straight down the barrel to the front sight. The Tasco's dot was a good 2 1/2 inches higher above the bore. The Cmore is about an inch. I also stole the grips off my 686, to put on the 627, so both of my 8 shots have the same grip, that is helping too.

As to the Aussie, His name is Mark Ihzenstine, ( hope I'm not butchering the spelling ) and he is good!! He won high overall last month with his wheel gun. I only got to watch him on one stage, and then he watched me while I shot it afterward. I admit I pushed too hard knowing he was there. Se la Vie, should have just shot my own game, but then that's games are for.

Report back tomorrow night or monday.
