Thanks for the words, guys.... It has been a busy last few months gathering supplies and donations, but it was worth it because we surpassed last years $$ amount by over $2000.00. I was proud.
We have a good group of young adults in our chapter. We also have the only Ag Academy in the state at our school. Ag Academy (AES) is a select group of junior and senior FFA students who follow a more stringent curriculum of studies, geared at the ag sciences. Our youngest will be a senior next year and and just got elected chapter VP. He is very involved, and by nature so are his mom and myself.
We cook for the class often, especially if they are studying a particular area of food production. Those youngsters can eat!
This past year, the junior class of twenty students went through 40 pounds of lamb in one swipe durin sheep and lamb production studies.
At Thanksgiving, it coincided with poultry production week, so we decided to cook Thanksgiving dinner for the class. We fried two large turkeys, made 15 lbs of chicken dressing, 15 lbs of homemade potato salad, a large pot of green beans, and a large pot of creamed corn, 2 peach cobblers, and a blueberry cobbler and....... THEY ATE IT ALL!.....
20 STUDENTS AND A FEW TEACHERS ate every last scrap.
