Actually Gen. Butterfield wrote the tune as a "lullaby" for his troops each night. but due to the savagry of the battles they participated in in quickly came to be a reminder of those who were sleeping forever.
Gen. Dan Butterfield rewrote much of the book of US Army bugle calls, including adding a signature flourish attached to each Brigade so that units would know if a call was directed at them or not.

Got this in an email today....these kids are good....they really get going around the 4:00 mark.......

These kids, The Kings Firecrackers entertained during half-time at an Army/Navy Basketball Game in Ohio. They are absolutely amazing. Can you imagine the work it took to learn these routines and then execute them?  Is is outstanding!
