There I was, working on an AR for money, free float forend, compensator, and trigger job, took a break because my legs and feet were getting tired, caught this thread, and my eyesight got really bad, like looking through salt water, trigger job will have to be continued until tomorrow.

Good stuff in a salt water kind of way.

  15 foot Eastern Diamondback rattlesnake. Largest ever caught on record.

 After seeing this, I did a little research, and learned the following:

One bite from a snake this large contains enough venom to kill over 40 full grown men.

The head alone is larger than the hand of a normal sized man.

This snake was probably alive  when George H. W. Bush was President.

A bite from those fangs would equal being penetrated by two  1/4 inch screwdrivers.

A snake this size could easily swallow a 2 year-old child.

A snake this size has an approximately 5 and 1/2 foot accurate striking distance. (The distance for an average size Rattlesnake is about 2 feet)

Judging by the size of the snake, it is estimated to weigh over 170 pounds. How much do you weigh?

That's about 35 miles from me, but I don't recall it being in the news here in Jacksonville. When was the picture taken?

Ahhh, Florida. At least this one is a native, not an illegal immigrant like the pythons and iguanas (now we are being warned about breeding populations of cobras. Freaking Cobras! How F'd up do you have to be to own one in the first place and what on God's green earth would make you think it was a responsible idea to let them go in the wild? Are you listening Janet? Close the damn border! Get a rope! ). Just wait until our crocidile population (another native, currently 6 thousand and counting) starts to mature. They can reach lengths of 20 feet and have all the charm of Australian Salties. I'm willing to cohabitate with them since they were here first, but its going to be hard on the poodles.
