One of the video's at Youtube was of a machine I have actually run (that brand and model ) roughing a die, but it was for a press, not extrusion. Also I thought the engine block would be more interesting to the Gear heads here.

EDM is cool, We used them the last place I worked, extreme accuracy, and small complex shapes, but it is a relitively slow process and they are a SOB to get adjusted if you are trying to run a variety of different parts, not only do you have to get the right voltage to minimize slag/burr, but wire diameter, composition, tension and speed are also variables that need to be balanced. then the first roll of wire runs out and you have to adjust for minor variations in the next one.
All the EDM guys I know drink, a lot
