An immigrant, he became a US citizen at age 17.

Now his dedication to the US and it's Military is an example for folks, immigrants or not, to follow.

He remained a comedian to the very end.

Hi;

     For all that he did for the troops - it would have been great for some sort of military presence to honor him at his funeral. I am sure that the family wanted a private service  BUT  there would have been many thousands of Vet's who would have wanted to say goodbye in person.

     I often thought that at around Christmas time maybe the History Channel would show one of his Christmas specials/tours. We have to also remember and reconize the women that gladly gave their time and talent to be a part of his specials.

     Martha Raye - the comedian and actress who adopted the 101st as "her" boys went many times to support them in Vietnam. She was granted special permission to be buried with members of the 101st in a military cemetary.

     I just think that Bob Hope should have had the same chance, but then it was up to the family. He was not a veteran, he was a comedian - but he saw more and did more than most of us.

He was a Veteran.  Well, he was made the first and only Honorary Veteran of the US Military.  Clinton signed the order.

Bob Hope was the last insurmountable spirit of "American" voice for boosting morale, not just for the troops, but for this country. Regardless of politics, as he knocked all the good and bad, he was a showman, gentleman, and had a voice, wit, and humble spirit long since missed in today's world.

Shame we can't all get on board with the same spirit.

A touching tribute to a great man, regardless of nationality, religious or political beliefs etc to give so much to so many exemplifies true humanity. There have been very few men/women that can claim to even come close in fact I am pushed to think of one.
Perhaps maybe Jerry Lewis comes close with his contribution for charitable causes having raised over 2 billion dollars....perhaps.

Have to share this.. cause I think it is so cute..
 Rochelle.. my daughter in law ( who has Mason 4..and Cooper 12 weeks...) posted this on her FB..


Mason pronounces some of his K's and C's as T's... He's showing Cooper some stickers with cats and dogs on them and turns to me and says "Tooper likes dogs and titties!"
 HAhahahaha!
 It appears that Cooper will be a true man's man.
