heck of a good pilot.
Some are saying that this is fake.. but here is one comment that I thought was pretty in the know.
Looks real to me....  :-\

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY6LjeAEPJk

The moment the pilot applies full left aileron in the landing "flare", it rolls left and drops rapidly into the ground. It loses lift as expected. Also, the ailerone deflection applied variously during the knife-edge approach would cause roll if the other wing was really there.

The airplane is rolling left, and appears to be loaded positively at the moment of failure. The rolling moment of the airplane continues to be leftward after the failure because the control inputs haven't changed immediately after the failure. The separated wing is being "left behind" by the rest of the airplane, and is not behaving in an unexpected way.

The airplane is probably not registered in the US, and may be EXPERIMENTAL.

Not fake and here's why. Anyone who knows anything about aerodynamics knows that when the plane has both wings it has more vertical lift because of the surface area of the wings. However, if a wing is lost, in order to get the maximum amount of lift, you need to create more surface area. So by rolling the aircraft 90 degrees more vertical lift is created by the fuselage. So, what this pilot did was use the fuselage to maintain lift until he could get the aircraft back on the ground.

If you don't believe me, check out the video posted here on youtube of the Israeli pilot landing his F-15 after he lost his right wing in a collision with another aircraft. The only difference is the Pilot of the F-15 had on board flight computers to help keep the plane in the air until he could get it back on the ground.

After a dog fight crash an f-15 manage to land with just one wing.

The first plane looks like a Pitts, I think it's a Chipmunk, They are pretty common at Air Shows. While they are not uncommon, because of their performance and intended use they are indeed classed as experimental.
Some say it's good to be very good, some say it's good to be very lucky, these video's prove both is best  ;D

Wow, M'ette. Those old movie stars were better role models than anything roaming around out there now. I picked a favorite many years ago, followed his lead, and it worked out well for me. Thanks for the memory.

Man, those pilots had obviously done their homework on aerodynamics and their respective aircrafts performance capabilities.
And, as Tom pointed out, a smattering of luck didn't hurt.
"I expect perdition, I always have. I keep this building at my back, and several guns handy, in case perdition arrives in a form that's susceptible to bullets. I expect it will come in the disease form, though. I'm susceptible to diseases, and you can't shoot a damned disease." ~ Judge Roy Bean, Streets of Laredo

To them nothing comes before the Constitution of these United States of America. For this we are all labeled potential terrorists. ~ Dean Garrison

16 out of 25, and I feel more stupid than the score sounds.
