You're right ... all we needed to remember for State Boards was carbons, and we learned some neat shorthand that screws me when I try to act smarter than I really am
I'm actually used to it having an OH on the end, C2H5OH. That gives you an idea what the structure of the molecule is like, not just what's in it. Also CH3-CH2-OH according to Wikipedia. C2H6O doesn't look right, but I guess it's right any of these 3 ways. All I know for sure is that 190 proof Everclear plus lemonade make's Frank's hard lemonade, and Everclear plus apple juice makes German stlye schnapps. Yummy.

""It may be laid down as a primary position, and the basis of our system, that every Citizen who enjoys the protection of a free Government, owes not only a proportion of his property, but even his personal services to the defence of it, and consequently that the Citizens of America (with a few legal and official exceptions) from 18 to 50 Years of Age should be borne on the Militia Rolls, provided with uniform Arms, and so far accustomed to the use of them, that the Total strength of the Country might be called forth at a Short Notice on any very interesting Emergency." - George Washington.
